Our story
Built one file at a time
F. Alfredo Gonçalves grew out of the practice of a licensed customs broker in Lisbon and grew alongside Portuguese foreign trade. Over the decades we have seen Portugal join the single market, customs declarations move online and the Union Customs Code arrive.
Almost everything about the way we work has changed. What has not changed is the essential: customs still demands documentary rigour and someone professionally answerable for the declaration.
Today we are a team that looks after the importer bringing in one container a year just as carefully as the group running daily operations across several ports.
How we work
Three commitments we do not negotiate
Saying what needs to be heard
If the operation is badly structured, we say so before filing. We prefer a difficult conversation to an additional assessment two years later.
Explaining the invoice
Duties, VAT, charges and fees appear separately and explained. You should never be in doubt about what you are paying and to whom.
Being there
Held cargo does not wait for office hours. When a file needs an answer, we answer.
